How It Works
If you are using videoconferencing for distance education or online learning, using iStream will allow you to both stream your lecture live on the web, and make it available for students to view on demand.
To use iStream, your class, meeting, or event must occur in a room equipped with a videoconferencing system. However, to watch the video stream, your students and colleagues only need the latest version of Flash installed on their computers.
How to Request iStream Service
If you know you want iStream service for an entire semester, you’ll need to make a class reservation at least three weeks before the beginning of your class.
If you want to use iStream for a one-time meeting or event, use the Request an Event Stream form.
If you’re a member of one of IU’s academic or administrative units, iStream is free to use.
How viewers access iStream
Students will enter the section number of the course in the iStream portal: http://www.indiana.edu/~istream.
For meetings and events, the original stream requester will receive URLs via email for further distribution.
