Getting Started

Once you have a Webserve account, you'll need to request Digital Media Streaming privileges. Then you’re ready to produce and publish your streaming video. There are two main methods for creating content; live capture and transcoding.

Live capture simply means that you are creating new content for streaming using your webcam or other video camera. Using software, such as Adobe’s free Flash Media Live Encoder on your Mac or PC you can record video files in the MPEG4-compatible Adobe F4V format. Many phones, tablets and devices already capture in a compatible MPEG4 format (H.264 video/AAC audio).

Transcoding means that you are re-purposing existing content, such as videos or presentations, for streaming on the web. Adobe Media Encoder software is included with Adobe’s Creative Suite 6 on IUWare.

You can also use a video editing program such as Adobe Premiere or Apple iMovie. Check the IUware site to see if your preferred video editing program is available for download. Whichever method you choose, you’ll follow the same publishing guidelines.
