Changing the Conference Layout / Steering the Remote Camera

When you’re in a conference on the IU Video Bridge, you can control the arrangement of sites on your screen. Note when you change the layout, you only change the layout on your screen; you don’t make changes on other participants’ screens.

Controlling the Video Bridge Conference View (Layout):

Tandberg, Polycom, Lifesize Room System:

  1. Press the “Far” or “Far End” button
  2. Press the up navigation button repeatedly to cycle through the available layout views
  3. Press the right navigation button repeatedly to rotate sites within the layout.

Cisco Telepresence, Microsoft Lync:

  1. Press the 2 button on the number keypad or on your computer keyboard repeatedly to cycle through the available layout views.
  2. Press the 6 button repeatedly to rotate sites within the layout.

Jabber Video (Movi):

  1. Press the “compass” icon in the upper right of the Jabber Video (Movi) video window. A “control wheel” will appear superimposed above the Jabber Video (Movi) toolbar.
  2. Press the up navigation button repeatedly to cycle through the available layout views
  3. Press the right navigation button repeatedly to rotate sites within the layout.

Expert Tip: Steering a remote site camera in a video bridge conference:

You can steer the pan-tilt-zoom camera of a room system that is positioned in the largest and/or upper left pane of the conference layout:

Note: this control option not available on Cisco Telepresence systems or Microsoft Lync clients:

  1. Press the “Far End” button
  2. Press the right navigation button repeatedly to rotate the site whose camera you wish to control into the largest and/or upper left pane of the conference layout.
  3. Press the “Zoom +” button. You will see a “compass” icon displayed in the upper left of the video window.
  4. Within six seconds, press up/down/left/right or zoom -/+ to steer the remote camera.
  5. Repeat steps 1-4 to steer other systems’ cameras.
Controlling the remote site camera in a point-to-point call:

If you’re connected directly (point to point) with a remote system that has a camera with pan-tilt-zoom controls, you can control the remote site’s camera.

  1. Press the “Far End” button
  2. Use the arrows and zoom keys to control the camera
